7 Students from Parsons’s Class of 2020 on the Future of Fashion – Vogue.com

Based on my review of student portfolios, the future looks bright. What struck me while looking through the work of some of the New School’s Parsons School of Design’s graduating class—seven of whom you will meet below—was not only the students’ talent, but their desire to change the world for better through protective gear, say, or finding alternatives to chemical dyes.

Preservation of craft is another preoccupation, and there is a sense of resourcefulness evident in many of the portfolios I saw that includes but is not limited to issues of sustainability. Politics, community, education, body positivity, and the need for social interaction and touch are topics the students are engaged with. Then there’s technology: Several students created designs for both the real and virtual worlds. Hastened by the pandemic, the industry as a whole is racing to create bridges between the two.

Congratulations to the Class of 2020 at the New School’s Parsons School of Design. Meet seven of them below.
