As one of the most down to earth celebrities, Adele doesn’t tend to overshare on social media. The singer only pops up on Instagram now and then, but when she does, it results in a mini event. This morning she posted an update thanking fans for the many birthday wishes she received last week on her 32nd B-Day and celebrating health workers on the frontlines of the COVID-19 crisis. “I hope you’re all staying safe and sane during this crazy time,” she wrote. “I’d like to thank all of our first responders and essential workers who are keeping us safe while risking their lives! You are truly our angels.”
The message came complete with a brand new photo—she hasn’t been spotted out since her Caribbean vacation with friend Harry Styles back in January—and a sleek fashion moment. Dressed in a black puff-sleeved mini from desiger Miro Hämäläinen and fellow musician Lieselot Elzinga’s brand, Elzinga, Adele showcased a whole new side of her style. While promoting albums like 25 and 21, her tastes were defined by a chic consistency. Retro-minded, long-sleeved dresses at floor or midi length emphasized her maturity and status as a soulful chanteuse. Adele’s voice and presence were commanding and the clothes corresponded to that. The flirtier, leg-baring silhouette of the Elzinga piece speaks to a different mood. Playful with pintucked detailing and crystal buttons on each sleeve, it’s a bonafide party frock.
Given that she has a new album on the horizon, the wardrobe update could symbolize a shift in sound—admit it, you’d love an electronic Adele bop! Even if it doesn’t, the look has already wowed Adele’s followers. “I mean, are you kidding me,” wrote Chrissy Teigen, aptly summing up the feelings of many. Riccardo Tisci and Virgil Abloh joined in on the praise posting emoji-filled comments and opening the door for a daring Burberry and Off-White filled new era for Adele.
