Houston’s Face Mask Fashion – Houstonia Magazine

Yesterday, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo ordered all county residents to wear face coverings when out in public for the next month beginning Monday, April 27. For weeks she and Mayor Sylvester Turner have been encouraging the public to don face masks when out in public to slow the spread of COVID-19. Now it’s mandatory. (Check out our guide to no-sew face masks.)

But wearing a face mask absolutely does not mean you still can’t look good. Take a page from Mayor Turner’s book—he’s been matching his face masks to his suit and … wow, his outfits look good.

Don’t worry about feeling self conscious in your masks. Every one had to do it, and, as Harry Winston once said, “People will stare. Make it worth their while.”

We at Houstonia are 100-percent on board with that train of thought, so much so last week we put out a call for pictures of y’all’s cutest, funniest, and best cloth face masks for a virtual fashion show, and y’all delivered. Check out some of our favorite masks that we’ve seen.

And seriously, y’all, wear a mask. As Turner said, “This fashion will help save your life.”
