Man United player ‘being liked more and more’ by club – Price set at €10m, would ‘gladly follow’ manager – Sport Witness

One of the first names to be sent to AS Roma when José Mourinho was named as the successor to Paulo Fonseca, Manchester United’s Nemanja Matić continues to be linked with a move to Italy.

The 32-year-old has found it difficult to get regular game time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer of late, and while his contract at Old Trafford runs out in 2023, he could be let go this summer.

That’s what Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting on Thursday, explaining that Matić and Mourinho have a ‘special relationship’, with him ‘being liked more and more’ by the club and their new manager.

It’s stated he is currently valued by Manchester United at around €10m, and that the Serbian defensive midfielder would ‘gladly follow’ Mourinho to Rome.

It’s now up to Tiago Pinto, Roma’s general director, to ‘try and put himself at the table’ with the Red Devils in order to find out what their intentions are for the player going forward.

Since the start of the season, Matić has made 35 appearances in all competitions for Manchester United, with a lot of them coming from the bench.

He also picked up one assist in a 3-1 win over Newcastle United back in February.
