New Hartford’s Bard wins 2020 AIM Tournament in dominating fashion – WKTV

WKTV – New Hartford High School graduate Alex Bard won the 2020 Apogee Investment Management Tournament, an amateur golf championship sanctioned by the Central New York PGA, in near historic fashion, Sunday.

In the 72-hole tournament, presented by the Syracuse Post-Standard, that closed with the final round at Lakshore Golf Club in Cicero, Bard shot a seven-under, winning by 14 strokes, the second largest margin of victory in tournament history. Alan Foster won by 15 strokes in 1986, but Bard’s seven-under 279 is the lowest score in tournament history.

Heading into Sunday’s final round, the former Spartan had a five shot lead, and used a two-under 70 to finish as the only player under par for the tournament.

It was his first time playing in the tournament.

Bard recently graduated from Penn State, but after having his senior season for the Nittany Lions Division I golf team cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic, he received another year of eligibility from the NCAA, which he will exercise to return for a fifth year on the team.
