North Platte sweeps doubleheader in walk-off fashion – knopnews2

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) –

The North Platte Legion baseball team swept Columbus on Sunday afternoon, winning game two in dramatic fashion.

The Nationals won game one of the doubleheader 10-5, scoring five runs in the first inning. Cole Wright pitched a complete game for North Platte, striking out five.

Game two didn’t have the same start for North Platte, failing to get any runs across the board until the sixth inning. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, Tyler Toby hit a fly ball to right field that tipped off the right fielders glove, allowing two runs to score and a 3-2 win for the Nationals.

With the wins, North Platte’s record improves to 8-2 on the season.
