On Amazon’s ‘Making the Cut,’ Fashion Is a Total Bore – The Wall Street Journal

A COUPLE WEEKENDS AGO, in an effort to occupy myself during yet another afternoon of social distancing, I binge-watched half a season of “Making the Cut,” Amazon Video’s fashion competition series and a new contender in a surprisingly bloated niche. “Project Runway” is the grey-haired wonder of the bunch, having just wrapped its 18th(!) season with 19 on the way. For 16 of those “Runway” seasons, Tim Gunn was the show’s soft-hearted sage, rousing contestants to “make it work” while Heidi Klum served as the show’s Paula Abdul—rarely harsh, but also rarely helpful.
