Sports chiefs to discuss return of fans | Sport – The Times

Sports chiefs will hold the first talks today since the outbreak of the coronavirus crisis on when supporters can be allowed back into matches and other events.

Nigel Huddleston, the sports minister, will chair a meeting involving representatives from football, cricket, rugby union and horse racing as well as Jonathan Van-Tam, the deputy chief medical officer for England.

Whitehall insiders say no timetable will be drawn up at this stage but the meeting will outline what needs to happen in terms of the drop in Covid-19 transmission for the green light to be given for supporters to return.

It is accepted by the sports that there will be no mass gatherings permitted before the autumn at the earliest, but the RFU has made a case
